Our story
On 25 July 2016, devastating floods swept through KwaZulu-Natal and changed our lives forever. We lost our mom, Brenda Lynn Scriven. Her body was never found, leaving us with heartbreak, unanswered questions, and a kind of loss that doesn’t have a clear ending.
The Rainbow After the Storm is our story.
It’s more than a memoir of grief - it’s a journey through love, resilience, and purpose. We share what it was like to lose her, the search that never truly ended, and the unthinkable task of learning to live without closure.
From that heartbreak, something else began to grow. Brenda’s Canine Fund - a living legacy of love, healing, and community.
This book is a reflection of the ordinary heroes who stood beside us, the enduring strength of a mother’s love, and the light we found in the darkest storm.
